AC
Milan FC

AC Milan are an Italian football club
based in Milan, Lombardy, they play in red-and-black
stripes, giving them their nickname
"Rossoneri"
("red-blacks").
AC Milan were founded in 1899 by Alfred Edwards, a
British expatriate. In honour of its origins, the club has
retained the English spelling of its city's name, instead
of changing it to the Italian Milano (though it was
constrained to change denomination to Milano during
the fascist regime, like Genoa and Inter); it should be
noted that the Italian pronunciation is actually
MEE-lahn.
One of the most successful clubs in the world, AC Milan
have won:
- The UEFA Champions League 6 times (second only
to Real Madrid)
- The Intercontinental Cup 3 times
- Serie A 17 times (only rivals Juventus have more
Scudetti)
- Coppa Italia five times.
AC Milan are also one of the best supported football
clubs in the world, and along with Juventus and Inter, form
the most popular group of teams in Italian football.
Most AC Milan fans call their shared stadium the San
Siro, while most Interisti call it the Giuseppe
Meazza, because Meazza played most of his glittering career
at Inter, despite a short spell at Milan.
AC Milan are also one of the teams that everyone likes
to see doing well, as long as it's not against their own
personal choice of football
team.
